MLCV Announces New Wages

Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures (MLCV) has raised its frontline hourly wages to a range of $14 - $20 an hour. All current Associates have been included in this new increased range or higher, based on position and performance.

This change impacts several businesses within the MLCV portfolio: Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Grand Casino Hinckley, Wewinabi, Inc., Circle Sage, and Grindstone Laundry.

Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures oversees the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe’s business enterprises, including gaming and non-gaming businesses, to ensure a secure economic future for the tribal members living both on the reservation and in other Minnesota communities.  “Our success would not be possible without the efforts of our Associates,” said Joseph Nayquonabe, CEO of MLCV. “We are happy to invest in and reward our teams with this effort.”

This wage lift is part of an overall strategy to retain and attract a talented workforce. In addition to the new wages, MLCV and its businesses offer a robust benefit package that includes medical, dental, 401K match – up to 5%, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and more.

As with any organization navigating the pandemic landscape, MLCV has tried various recruitment strategies to fill open positions at various businesses, including sign-on bonuses. “Fulfilling sign-on bonuses to attract potential talent has proven to be only a short-term benefit,” said Ronda Weizenegger, Chief Operating Officer of MLCV. “Making this shift to increased wages will have a greater long-term impact for our current Associates and new hires.”
